Your trip to Brooks Falls, located in Katmai National Park, begins with an early morning flight from Anchorage to King Salmon. This flight is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. After arrival into King Salmon, you will connect with your floatplane service for a scenic 25-minute flight to Brooks Falls. Upon arrival to Brooks, you will view a 15-minute bear orientation video presented by the friendly Katmai National Park staff. From there, you will be on your own to visit and enjoy the world famous Brooks Falls, and its most popular occupants, the majestic Alaska Brown Bear.

After spending the day with the bears at Brooks, your floatplane service will pick you up in the afternoon/early evening, and return you to King Salmon, allowing enough time for you to make your return connecting flight between King Salmon and Anchorage. This tour affords you more time available for actual bear viewing versus originating in Anchorage or Homer with a floatplane service. Basically, more time viewing bears, and less time in a floatplane.

This one-day bear viewing tour includes round trip air transportation to Brooks Falls via King Salmon and one FULL day at Katmai National Park/Brooks Falls, unguided. The Valley of 10,000 Smokes Natural History Tour is not available on the one-day bear viewing tour.

DAY 1: Depart from Anchorage at approximately 8:00 a.m.. After arriving into King Salmon, you will be transferred to your floatplane service for the 25-minute flight to Brooks Falls, located in Katmai National Park. Your time at Brooks is yours to enjoy as you wish. You can visit Brooks Falls and the majestic Brown Bears that feed there. Or, you may opt for the afternoon nature walk led by a National Park Service naturalist. There is a restaurant, bar and fireplace located at Brooks Lodge for your enjoyment. You will return to King Salmon by approximately 7:30 p.m. via your floatplane. Then, you will be transferred to your lodging accommodations for the night in King Salmon.

DAY 2: Depart King Salmon for Brooks Falls at approximately 8:00 a.m. Upon arrival, check in with the Brooks Lodge office and you will be directed to the meeting area for the Valley of 10,000 Smokes Natural History Tour. During the full day tour, you will have the opportunity to view a variety of wildlife and walk upon the ash and pumice moonscape created by the most massive eruption of any volcano in the past 100 years. Lunch is included in the tour. After spending the day touring the Valley of 10,000 Smokes, your floatplane service will pick you up in the afternoon/early evening, and return you to King Salmon, allowing enough time for you to make your return connecting flight between King Salmon and Anchorage.

This tour is essentially the same as tour 120, but includes an extra night of lodging in King Salmon. This will afford you the opportunity to take a late flight from Anchorage to King Salmon the night before your first day at Brooks Falls and Katmai National Park. This schedule allows you to take an 8:00 a.m. floatplane departure the next morning. Or, you may opt to overnight after your second day at Brooks, and depart King Salmon the following morning.
