  • Timothy Treadwell Kaflia Bay Camp. 4 W Air deHavilland DHC-2 BeaverThis full day fly out guided tour will take you to Kaflia Bay situated on the Shelikof Strait. This site was made infamous as the place where Tim Treadwell and his girlfriend Amie Huguenard were attacked and killed by one or more grizzly bears. Bill, your pilot and guide, was hired by ABC Television to take the rangers that shot the bear out to the site where this tragedy occurred and was interviewed at the scene. His interview was shown on ABC's show Primetime. The flight out crosses the wild expanse of the Katmai National Park and Preserve. During the 1+ hours flight you will have breathtaking views of the pristine wilderness, the old abandoned village of Savonoski, Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes, Katmai mountain range including Mount Katmai and Crater Lake, Trident Volcano, Kukak Volcano and the Hook and Hallo Glaciers.  After landing at Kaflia Bay Lake Bill will guide you on a tour of the location where the book 'The Grizzly Maze' will come to life. It is likely that coastal brown bears will be roaming around the site therefore personal security is of paramount importance. Bill will take all necessary precautions to ensure your visit to Kaflia Bay Camp goes without incident. After a packed lunch you will depart back to King Salmon.
