Brooks Falls Gallery

A selection of Brown Bear pictures taken from the Brooks Falls and Riffles viewing platforms.

Here we see the largest male brown bears fishing in the salmon rich Brooks River. Male bears gather in large numbers during the salmon run when food is plentiful. They adopt various fishing techniques. The popular one for us humans is waiting to catch a salmon as it leaps. This requires two things; technique and  being in the best position. Deciding who is dominant and who is subservient leads to the occasional bear fight. Mom's will bring cubs up to the falls to feed but they are very wary of the male bears.
